Junkyard Dogs Continue Signings
Friday, 05 February 2010 10:20

The new kids on the IFL block continue to score recruit after recruit.  While the nation was gripped in the Collegiate Signing Day fervor on Wednesday, the JYDs quietly shook up the IFL's NFC with a slew of seismic signings of IFL free agents, including former Milwaukee Marauder QB Shannon King.  Following the Thursday night informational meeting, it is rumored that at least a dozen more relatively high profile IFL players will be signing with the team.  This comes in addition to the news that Coach Tom Karthausser has been joined by fellow IFLer Coach Dan Greene, formerly of the Wauwatosa Spartans.

The Dogs certainly will not be the same Dogs that won the WSFL Championship in 2009.  While roster names are being kept under cover until posted on the JYD's website, some notable names have been released to the public, including Scott Tyrcha, Mike Bernal, Jake Klipp, Bobby Windom and Scott Schreiner.  Each has been on the IFL's higher profile lists for several years and are known contributing veterans.

More information will certainly continue to trickle out of the West Bend camp in the days and weeks ahead, and we'll work to keep you up to date.

IFL's Ironbowl 14 Logo Unveiled
Friday, 05 February 2010 10:11

The Ironman Football League has unveiled their 2010 logo for Ironbowl 14.  The badge sports the colors Red and White in honor of the city of Wauwatosa, who will play host this season at the renovated Hart Park.  The IFL has inked a deal with 'Tosa for 13 dates at the facility, which recently underwent a $4+ million dollar facelift.

According the the IFL, the new logo "officially puts the IFL on the clock. In order to capitalize on the continued trend of success that the Ironbowl game annually provides, the League is confident and determined to put in the necessary work to ensure that this year’s Ironbowl is an even bigger success!"  IB XIV also marks a return to the league's demographic center - the greater Milwaukee area - following two seasons away: in 2008 the Madison Mustangs hosted the Ironbowl en route to winning their first of two consecutive championships; 2009 saw the failed attempt to draw in new crowds with a destination game at Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconsin Dells.

As the IFL website states, "The unveiling will kick off a year-long marketing campaign by both the IFL and its member teams by which they hope to make this year’s Ironbowl the biggest yet."
