The West Bend Junkyard Dogs, 2009 Champions of the WSFL, announced today in an email to their players that the new ownership has elected to take the team from the WSFL to the IFL. The following email was sent around to each of the Dogs and forwarded to WSP by an inside source: "Dear Junkyard dogs, For years the WSFL has battled what now appears to be a losing fight in keeping the top flight teams in the league. The chief complaint has been and continues to be the fall schedule, as opposed to the summer schedule played by most other leagues in the midwest. Interesting to note is that rumors have continued to flow into WSP that several teams within the WSFL are pushing for an earlier start to the schedule, following the departure of the Fox Valley Force in 2008 and the rumored shopping around by several teams following this past season. The same source indicated that the decision is not met with unanimous approval by WB players, but that the decision has largely been welcomed within the IFL fold. Other WSFL teams have reported being contacted by JYD players and coaches contemplating a move following this decision. How that plays into the WSFL scheduling for 2010 remains to be seen. |
