BREAKING NEWS FROM THE IFL...

According to sources, league founder and CEO Chris Chudada has announced that he will be stepping aside from the league for personal reasons.  It is known that Mr. Chudada is keen on coaching and has been offered the chance to coach youth at the high school level.  Furthermore, he reportedly feels that he has shepherded the league to a place where it can survive without his involvement.  At this point, no official announcement has been made, but sources continue to report that Mr Chudada has decided to step away.

Rumored to be in the mix to step in and assist IFL Commissioner Pete Narrai and co-owner Jordan Kopac is former IFL President of Football Ops Dan Greene.  Greene is currently the coach of the West Bend Junkyard Dogs and heads up the IFL Hall-of-Fame Committee.

***UPDATE***

It has been confirmed that Mr Narrai and Mr Kopac will be running the league in the interim as more help is sought...

More Big Signings for JYDs
Monday, 22 February 2010 07:05

Following the West Bend Junkyard Dogs tryouts yesterday, the team released the names of several new signees, including one name that has many in the IFL circles picking their bottom jaws off of the floor: OL/DL Dray Norwood from UW-Whitewater.

It had been reported that Norwood had previously committed to the Muskego Hitmen, but never signed a contract.  The IFL allows teams to choose whether or not they hold players responsible for written contracts.  Roughly half of the teams choose to enforce contract rules, while several powerhouse teams, the Hitmen and Burlington Blue Devils included, do not - at least not for all players.  Coming over from the WSFL, where contracts are mandatory and roster limits are tougher than in the IFL, the Dogs are certainly no strangers to the inked papers.  The news that Norwood has signed with the JYDs helps to bolster a defense that will face some of the toughest offenses in the league within their own conference.

Meanwhile, the Dogs have also signed several "lower profile" recruits who will have tremendous impact.  Will Thomsen, the unanimous All-Wisconsin WR last year with the Lake Country Cyclones, will try to make it two straight seasons this year as he plys his trade in the summer with the Dogs prior to an autumn with the 'Clones.  And one of the more unheralded pickups for any team in the league came early for West Bend when Josh Kubeck committed to play.  Kubeck, a 6'4 defensive linemen from UW-Stout, saw a load of playing time several seasons ago with the Cyclones prior to heading to college.  Raw and unrefined, his size and speed made him formidable; several years of college ball under his belt will certainly be a benefit to the Dogs.

Several more big names are rumored to be considering the Dogs heavily.  WSP is chasing down several of the rumors...check back here for the latest.
