BREAKING NEWS FROM THE IFL...

According to sources, league founder and CEO Chris Chudada has announced that he will be stepping aside from the league for personal reasons.  It is known that Mr. Chudada is keen on coaching and has been offered the chance to coach youth at the high school level.  Furthermore, he reportedly feels that he has shepherded the league to a place where it can survive without his involvement.  At this point, no official announcement has been made, but sources continue to report that Mr Chudada has decided to step away.

Rumored to be in the mix to step in and assist IFL Commissioner Pete Narrai and co-owner Jordan Kopac is former IFL President of Football Ops Dan Greene.  Greene is currently the coach of the West Bend Junkyard Dogs and heads up the IFL Hall-of-Fame Committee.

Check back for more details or corrections as they become available...

***UPDATE***

It has been confirmed that Mr Narrai and Mr Kopac will be running the league in the interim as more help is sought...

What to Watch July 31st
Friday, 30 July 2010 00:00

Last week we missed our What to Watch Special, thanks in large part to our editor preparing for the game of the week last week.  What you missed was the first round of the playoffs in the NEFL, and a pair of stellar matchups in the IFL.  We're back at it this week, and here is...

WHAT TO WATCH!

St Paul Pioneers (7-2) @ Chippewa Valley Predators (7-0), SEMIFINAL, NEFL.
The Preds had a BYE last week after securing the #1 seed in the NEFL with a second consecutive undefeated season.  This week, the Pioneers- yes, they of the DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION status, come back to town for the semifinals showdown.  Meeting back in week 4, the Predators welcomed the P-Unit to Elite Football with a 30 - 27 victory.  St Paul rebounded well, and following a victory last week over the South Metro Dragons in the Twin Cities, they march back into Wisconsin hungry to knock off CV, who have won 20 straight.  Chippewa Valley, of course, is looking to defend their NEFL title and keep pace in the race of undefeated in the state.

Saturday, 6PM, Carson Park, Eau Claire, WI.

Twin Ports Stampede (8-1) @ Fox Valley Force (8-1), SEMIFINAL, NEFL
The other NEFL Semifinal will be played in Appleton on Saturday, when the Twin Ports Stampede travel to take on the second seeded Fox Valley Force.  The Force rested last weekend, having secured a BYE with their high seeding, while the Stampede took care of business, downing the visiting Green Bay Gladiators 28-3.  Fox Valley lost last season's Elite Bowl 2 to Chippewa Valley, after having won two straight WSFL Championships.  The Stampede were winners in Elite Bowl 1, and after a down year last season, they changed the front office and have risen back to power.  Either way this turns out, and Elite Bowl veteran team will be back in the Championship

Saturday, 4PM, Banta Bowl at Lawrence University, Appleton, WI

West Bend Junkyard Dogs (6-2) @ Burlington Blue Devils (7-1), IFL
Fresh off their spanking last week in Madison, the Dogs will look to rebound in this cross conference match-up.  A win would almost guarantee the Dogs the #2 seed in the NFC.  Burlington has the AFC #1 seed wrapped up, but they are looking to continue riding their hot streak into the playoffs.  A win over the Dogs would prove that Burlington can not only hang with the big dogs, but they can dispatch them with ease.  Look for the boys in blue to make a statement in this one and try to send a warning shot across the rest of the league.  West Bend needs to bounce back emphatically after their first here-is-your-lunch loss, and a win in Burlington would send shockwaves across much of the rest of the league.  This one will be one of the best of the season in the IFL.

Saturday, 7PM, Karcher Field, Burlington, WI

One Fan's Take

The following analysis comes from a fan who goes by the pseudonym Footballlover23.  We thought it was a great break down of the battle in Eau Claire and we wanted to share it with you.

It's finally here, the game the city of Eau Claire has talked about NEFL offseason moves begun back in December. I have attended every single match up and every home game for either team in the last 6 years so I think I should be able to give an honset un-bias opinion on this game.

Offensive Line
Crush have a new group of players running a system that gives the best ability to have success. Simple play calls and basic blocking schemes make this team a group that is coming together quickly. The Predators have a unit that was quite dominant last year. With the additions of Dustin Tervelt and Coty Weltzin at Left Guard and Center, this team seems to have moved it up a level from last year. Dominque Bacon may be the best lineman I have ever seen and he gives them an undoubtedly advantage over any team. Adavantage PREDATORS.
