It's wind-down time in the IFL, meaning everyone will be in Madison to watch the NFC Championship Saturday night and in Burlington for the AFC Championship Sunday night. However, if you can't make the game on Saturday, there are two other solid choices for excellent football this weekend, and here's... WHAT TO WATCH!
Madison Mustangs (11-0) vs. Muskego Hitmen (8-3), NFC Championship, IFL. Since the 2007 NFC Championship, the Mustangs have ripped off 35 straight. Their opponent in that last loss? The Muskego Hitmen. Muskego comes in looking to avenge an earlier loss this season at home, a game in which their powerful running back Jojo Moore torched the Mustang defense for 177 yards, the first 100+ yard rusher on the Mustangs since the 2006 season. Let's not forget that Muskego nearly pulled off the upset in last season's NFC Championship in Madison. Also on the line, an undefeated record for the Mustangs at Breitenbach Stadium, where they have never lost. Saturday, 7PM, Breitenbach Stadium, Middleton, WI.
M&M Timberjacks (2-0) @ Sheboygan County Rebels (2-0), WSFL Two perennial powerhouses. Two bruising styles of play. Two dominating defenses. Two halves of excellent football. The Timberjacks are out to prove that they are the favorite in the WSFL this season after coming up on the short end of the last two league Championships. The Rebels, who had a down year in 2009, are back to prove why they sport three WSFL Championship trophies. Both teams are looking for the early advantage in the WSFL North Division, and this one will leave bodies in their wake. Saturday, 6PM, Memorial Park, Sheboygan, WI
Wauwatosa Spartans (7-4) @ Burlington Blue Devils (10-1), AFC Championship IFL These two teams meet up in a rematch of last season't AFC Championship. Burlington has been the perennial second dog in the AFC, but seem poised to break out of the mold. Tosa, on the other hand, is desperate to hang on to a disappointing season and to quell the rumors that their light is fading away. A win will put the Devils to their hallowed ground, while a victory for the Spartans will set up a reappearance in the Iron Bowl. Sunday, 5PM, Ameche Field, Kenosha, WI Other games of Interest: Racine Threat @ Racine Raiders, MSFL - The battle for Racine, and the WI division of the MSFL, takes place in both teams' backyard. |
