Four players garnered unanimous First Team selections for the 2009 WISemiPro.com All-Wisconsin Team. Selected from 36 teams playing in Wisconsin or leagues based in Wisconsin, the WSP AW09 team is the highest honor a player can receive for amateur football in Wisconsin. The team is selected by various league administrators and media members and is voted on blindly to cut down on biases, and statistics are averaged out to equate for varying league schedule lengths. The only positions not announced with this team are the offensive linemen, as a separate award announcement will be made next week for the hardest working men in the game. Wide receiver Will Thomsen, the standout for the Lake Country Cyclones of the WSFL, was the only offensive player to be a unanimous selection. His 45 receptions (10 for touchdowns) and 714 yards led the WSFL, and Thomsen was a big reason that the Cyclones averaged almost 19 points per game, despite finishing 2-8. Adam Boehm of the Burlington Blue Devils was another unanimous AW09 selection and anchors a defense that features players from 8 different teams and three leagues, including a representative from each league champion. Boehm ended the season with 57 tackles and 11 sacks, and forced 3 fumbles. Joining Boehm and Thomsen as unanimous selections are safety Solomon Cabell of the Milwaukee Venom and his 15 interceptions, and Michael Dempsey of the Roscoe Rush, who had 81 tackles on the season, 21 of them for loss. Cabell was also named the 2009 IFL MVP following his outstanding season. |

How to make the SEFL happen. Yesterday we answered some questions about what the proposed SEFL is. Today, we tackle a few of the elephants in the room. How to make it happen. First, there are three reasons why teams that are interested in the SEFL have yet to commit. - They’re afraid this will never materialize.
- They’re afraid there won’t be enough teams.
- They’re afraid of what will happen if they leave their league.

Get ready...this is a long one... What is this SEFL we keep hearing about? Well, chances are, if you’re somewhat connected to the semi-pro football scene in this state, you have seen the limited information that has been flowing around for weeks. There was a proposal meeting held on Monday evening in Madison for all interested parties to check out. As with any time and date chosen, some teams couldn’t make it, phoning or emailing that afternoon to say so. Others came at the last minute. Some drove far, some were near. All in all, aside from a few technical difficulties (who understands overhead projectors anyhow) the meeting was very positive and successful. However, because some teams were unable to make the meeting, there has been requests for more meetings and more information to be made available. The meetings are being worked on, but without further ado, here is the information... |

There have been dozens of requests for information regarding the proposed SEFL over the last few days. There will be an informational meeting held on Monday evening at 7:15 near Madison. The meeting is expected to last an hour and a half, and will cover the complete range of the proposed league charter, goals, rules, etc... There will also be a significant period of time for Q&A and discussion following the proposal presentation. |

How to save football in Southeast Wisconsin.
Some of the developments and occurences over the past summer here in Wisconsin, coupled with a downturn in the economy, have put amateur football in this half of the state in a semi-precarious state of jeopardy. Why? Because the system is broken.
